A Case of Macroscopic Cortical Nephrocalcinosis Associatedwith membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis in a Patient with Liver Cirrhosis due to Chronic Hepatitis B

Abstract
Nephrocalconosis is a condition characterized by the deposition of calcium salts intracelluarly and extracellularly in kidney. The localization of the calcium deposition may vary, but it usually involves the medulla and corticomedullary area and
occasionally the cortex. Cortical nephrocalcinosis is rarer than the medullary variety and usually the result of severe destructive cortical disease such as acute cortical necrosis, chronic glomerulonephritis or chronic pyelonephritis. The
mechanism of
nephrocalcinosis are ant clear, but prologed hypercalcemia and/or hyperclaciuria, excess circulating paraqthyroid hormone, impaired urinary acidification, impaired proximal tubular calcium reabsortion, and local injury to renal parenchyma are the
actors
that can predispose to nephrocalcinosis.
We experienced a patient with macroscopic cortical nephrocalcinosis associated with membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis and liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis B virus. There have been no report of cortical nephrocalcinosis with chronic
glomerulonephritis in Korea, therefore we report this case with a review of some literatures.
